“Thanks to the continued support of the community, this event has grown significantly over the last decade, allowing Any Baby Can to give back more than ever before. It’s amazing to see the community coming together in this way.” – Dawn Dixon, Any Baby Can

Any Baby Can’s longtime, family favorite event, the Walk for Autism, has expanded into Any Baby Can’s Fiesta. The Official Fiesta® San Antonio Event will feature the 11th Annual Walk for Autism, music, food, activities for all, and new this year, the Superhero 5K. Taking place at the AT&T Center on April 18, the event offers something for the entire family and serves as an opportunity for the community to raise awareness and funds to support families raising children with special health care needs and families who have lost a child.

One person who truly understands the importance of awareness and the meaning of community is Senator Carlos Uresti, and to show their gratitude, Any Baby Can has crowned him as Rey Familia.

Any Baby Can is no stranger to the significance of community support. The organization wouldn’t be able to serve families at the capacity that they do without the support and partnerships of other local organizations. So, in an effort to show its appreciation and support in return, Any Baby Can has invited Special Olympics Texas, Down Syndrome Association of South Texas and Spina Bifida Texas to accept a portion of the proceeds raised at a food or game booth at Any Baby Can’s Fiesta. In addition, Any Baby Can invites each organization to form a Walk for Autism team with a portion of each registration fee going directly back to the organization. Funds raised through Any Baby Can’s Fiesta are also giving Any Baby Can the opportunity to provide two $1,000 scholarships to local college students with a disability.

Any Baby Can’s Fiesta is created around one goal—to provide greater support for families raising a child with a special health care need and families who have lost a child. As a result, Any Baby Can is proud to bring the community an expanded event that will not only provide greater awareness and help support programs available at Any Baby Can, but will give back to organizations and individuals in the community.

“The event gives my family the acceptance we haven't felt since my daughter was a toddler,” said April Guzman, mother of a 6 year old daughter with autism.
“We felt very welcomed since everybody was in the same situation as us and there were companies offering great services for children needing their help.”

What to Expect at Any Baby Can’s Fiesta
The event began as an avenue for families to come together, celebrate and gain resources that provide support and education. This continues to be a core component. And on April 18, 2105, the Resource Fair at Any Baby Can’s Fiesta will once again provide a one-stop shop for families to access over 100 providers and community organizations with information regarding education, therapy, financial planning, support and products for children and adults with special health care needs.

Attendees will start the morning off with the sights and sounds of a popular Folklorico group and enjoy live music from bands Elora & Gasoline Alley and Electric Circus throughout the day. Local Mariachi Bands and drumlines will line the two mile Walk for Autism route celebrating with participants.

As families enjoy breakfast tacos and other traditional Fiesta foods, they can test their luck at one of the many game booths or participate in a variety of activities provided by community organizations—San Antonio Parks and Rec Mobile Fit Unit, The DoSeum, Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Caravan, the San Antonio Library Literacy Caravan and more. Other special areas are Rudy’s Playground—a space where therapists provide adaptive and sensory friendly activities for all—and the YMCA and local gyms offer fitness activities for individuals of all ages and abilities.

A returning favorite at Any Baby Can’s Fiesta is Fiesta de Los Jefes—an annual event for both the San Antonio Police Department and San Antonio Fire Department. Fiesta de Los Jefes is a great place for families to interact with police officers and firefighters while learning about items such as Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) and more.

Whether you are a volunteer, family member, friend or advocate, your registration and participation help to fund Any Baby Can programs that support families raising children with autism and many other special health care needs, as well as families who have lost a child. Fundraising is essential to keeping Any Baby Can’s services free of charge regardless of a family’s income and the organization admires and shares the passion and commitment that the community has provided.

For the second year, Any Baby Can is proud to welcome back Ageless Living Home Health as the event’s Title Sponsor. “Any Baby Can is a great community friend and Ageless Living Home Health is honored to be working with them to make a difference in our community. Myself  and the staff of Ageless Living Home Health pledge to the community to provide the highest quality of care from qualified clinicians in the surrounding communities by contributing our services and being advocates to all children in need,” said CEO and Owner Jim Hughes. Ageless Living Home Health encourages all staff, friends and community to get involved in our community. Any Baby Can is one of many great organizations that Ageless Living Home Health is proud to be partner with in changing lives.”
