Any Baby Can's Fiesta Partners with San Antonio Nonprofits to Meet Needs of Local Families

Any Baby Can’s family-friendly event that has been raising funds for families facing autism for a decade is expanding into Any Baby Can’s Fiesta, allowing Any Baby Can to unite a larger community with a shared goal.

“We are excited to offer a new way to partner with our community at Any Baby Can’s Fiesta,” says Chief Operating Officer Hugo Hernandez. “Any Baby Can strives to collaborate with as many groups as possible to meet the needs of our families, as we recognize that we simply cannot do it alone. This is a small way to support those agencies or groups that help our families.”

As the event enters its second year as an Official Fiesta® San Antonio Event, it’s no secret that it has evolved. Any Baby Can celebrated with 250 participants at the 1st Annual Walk for Autism in 2005 and expects to celebrate with 11,000 participants at Any Baby Can’s Fiesta in 2015. In addition to significant participant growth, more than $100,000 was raised through the event in 2014.

This annual event has always given back to the community by raising awareness and funds to continue providing free services at Any Baby Can while offering family resources at the event. And now, Any Baby Can is giving back in an even greater capacity. The event and the 9,000 individuals Any Baby Can serves annually would not be possible without the involvement of the local community, including other nonprofit organizations. Any Baby Can will return that support by providing opportunities for nonprofits to fundraise for their organization through Any Baby Can’s Fiesta.

Any Baby Can has invited many local organizations to partner with Any Baby Can’s Fiesta. To date, the following organizations will be running and benefiting from one of five food, or one of five game booths at Any Baby Can’s Fiesta. The nonprofit partners to date are:

  • Special Olympics Texas
  • Down Syndrome Association of South Texas
  • Spina Bifida Texas
  • Girls on the Run

In addition, Any Baby Can has invited organizations to form an 11th Annual Walk for Autism team with a portion of each registration fee going directly back to their organization.

“The Down Syndrome Association of South Texas is excited to be a part of this year’s Fiesta by running a game booth, in support of Any Baby Can,” says Terri Mauldin, executive director of the Down Syndrome Association of South Texas. “This partnership naturally makes sense as many of our families are connected to both organizations. It is extremely important for the disability community and nonprofits to work together to better serve our families.”

The impact created when nonprofits work together to provide even just one family with all of the necessary resources is remarkable. A family’s worlds can turnaround just as quickly as it did when they discovered they have a child with special needs.

“When nonprofits work together to increase awareness, it also increases support from the community,” says Anna Twitty, development director for Special Olympics Texas. “The funds we raise during this event will help us bring year-round sports opportunities to more than 9,300 people with intellectual disabilities in the San Antonio area.”

Taking place at the AT&T Center on Saturday, April 18, Any Baby Can’s Fiesta will feature the 11th Annual Walk for Autism, music, food, activities for all, and new this year, the Superhero 5K. The event offers something for the entire family and serves as an opportunity for the community to raise awareness and funds to support families raising children with autism and other special health care needs, as well as families who have lost a child. Any Baby Can provides support services to families who have a child or youth with a chronic illness, disability, developmental delay or health risk, and they plan to bring all families together on April 18.

As you purchase breakfast foods and carnival game tickets at Any Baby Can’s Fiesta, remember that your dollars are supporting not one, but many local nonprofit organizations. No matter the type of support or size of a donation, every dollar goes a long way to support an individual or family in need. You are making a difference.
