April 21, 2016
The North San Antonio Chamber of Commerce is committed to our mission of keeping Bexar County strong through the delivery of advocacy, networking, recognition, leadership and professional development programs. Over the last month, we have welcomed over 100 new members to our community through an engagement campaign and have continued to prepare the next generation of leaders through a combined luncheon of Leadership Lab participants and 75 local, university students. Let’s keep the momentum rolling as we move into May and celebrate a valued employee on her 25th anniversary with the North Chamber as well as some great programming and opportunities for participation.
With the help of member and community volunteers, the North SA Chamber of commerce is pleased to announce the addition of over 100 new members – 82 of which were added over a two-day period in March. In 2016, the key word for the North SA Chamber is engagement. Through the addition of new training programs, signage, and social media messaging, we have spent the beginning of the year focusing our membership and greater community on our mission and the heart of why this chamber of commerce is so important to this city. We’ve found that a huge education gap has been lifted and the community is becoming more aware of our presence all over San Antonio whether it be through transportation and infrastructure needs, small business advancement, technology, leadership or professional development. More important than adding new members is the North Chamber’s desire to engage our membership in what we’re doing so that they have a passion to stand alongside us and further this organization for another 40 years to come. Thank you to our new members that see this mission and are now getting plugged into our community and thank you to the members and community volunteers that came out to support the North SA Chamber and our mission during this unique campaign. We look forward to being your voice and your advocate.
25 Years of Service
Heading into May, the North SA Chamber will celebrate Chris Bugg, Senior Vice President of Operations, on her 25th year of service to this organization. In 1999 she received the nationally recognized certification “IOM” from the Institute for Organization Management at Southern Methodist University and The Colorado College. Chris has been responsible for the inception and organization of Leadership Lab – the North SA Chamber’s flagship leadership and professional development program. Under the direction of Chris Bugg, Leadership Lab has received recognition as the “Best New Program of the Year” by the Texas Chamber of Commerce Executives and is responsible for graduating over 900 students from more than 200 companies in San Antonio over the last 17 years. Chris is also responsible for the management of the North SA Chamber’s Gala, which is the annual celebration banquet of the outgoing Chairman of the Board and official installation of the incoming Chairman and Board of Directors. Each year, the North SA Chamber Gala grows in its’ creativity and vision under Chris and her team. Starting as a weeknight celebration of around 300 people, the event is now a full themed, multi-media production of up to 1,000 guests enjoying live music, dance, and the presentation of the San Antonian Award to a deserving leader in San Antonio. “We are so appreciative of Chris and all that she has contributed to our organization and this community,” says President and CEO, Duane Wilson.
