April 27, 2017
The North SA Chamber had a busy April educating members at our Employment Law Update, holding a panel discussion at our technology council’s CIO Panel, introducing some local college students to our Leadership Lab class and hosting our very first Fiesta Medal Exchange and Party with our neighbors at Vickrey & Associates. At the beginning of May, we will host our SOLD OUT Golf Tournament at Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort and wrap up the month with our annual State of the County Address featuring Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff. I encourage you to spend a little time checking out our NEW Electronic Member Handbook to ensure that you are getting the most out of your benefits and finding an opportunity to attend and/or sponsor an upcoming event.
State of the County Address
The North SA Chamber wants to bring you and your business face-to-face with local leaders and decision makers. Join us as Judge Nelson Wolff presents his “Bexar Facts”—updating attendees on important accomplishments and aspirations for our county at the annual State of the County Address on Friday, May 26th at the Omni San Antonio Hotel at the Colonnade. You can reserve your seat or sponsorship at the event registration page or by contacting Cristina Aldrete at caldrete@northsachamber.com. Dual sponsorships are available for your support of this event and our Mayor’s Vision for San Antonio coming in August.
NOW AVAILABLE! North SA Chamber Electronic Member Handbook
The North SA Chamber wants to provide you with tools that help you get the most out of your membership. Learn how to manage and market your business at www.northsachamber.com by watching a series of short, instructional videos or downloading PDF instructions with our NEW Electronic Member Handbook >. This handbook will teach you about the North SA Chamber’s members-only zone—the Member Information Center (MIC). Through the MIC you can update your member profile listing in our Member Directory, upload events to our public Events Calendar, post a Hot Deal, a MarketSpace item, a Job and more. Be sure to share this document with other representatives in your organization and ask them to watch the short, 2-minute “Getting Started” video so that we can get them engaged.
Leadership Lab – Values in Leadership
Workforce development is an important focus for the North SA Chamber in 2017 and each month we are finding ways to create awareness of our city’s growing needs and the local programming that can support these needs. This month we were able to provide a little direction of our own during our Leadership Lab session on Values in Leadership. During a facilitated luncheon discussion, over 70, local college students were able to sit with our 90 professional development students and discuss how they envision their values being incorporated in their future profession. This discussion allows both the professionals and the students to be introspective and remind themselves of why they do, or aspire to do, work that brings greater value to our city and our nation. At each table there was a Leadership Lab Alumni board member to encourage the conversation and to share their perspective as a graduate from the program. As the North SA Chamber begins to find our voice in this growing need, we encourage you and your businesses to plug into an existing internship program (e.g. SA Works, Family Service Association) or local organization that gives mentorship to our up and coming workforce. For more information on putting a young professional through our Leadership Lab course, please visit the Leadership Lab tab on our website or contact Marilyn White at mwhite@northsachamber.com.
