The Tobin Center for the Performing Arts has had little trouble attracting audiences for its variety of shows and events. The center city venue, which opened in September 2014, ranked among the top entertainment facilities in the world in the third quarter of 2015 based on ticket sales, according to industry tracker Pollstar.

The Tobin placed 36th among theater venues of all sizes worldwide, selling nearly 114,000 tickets to performances scheduled in July through September of this year. Even more impressive, the Tobin Center ranked No. 26 among all U.S. theater venues, and No. 2 in Texas, based on ticket sales activity in the quarter. Only the Verizon Theatre at Grand Prairie performed better in Texas, selling a little more than 175,000 tickets in the third quarter of 2015. Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City topped the charts. The theater, which has a capacity of 10,000 seats, sold nearly 1.1 million tickets in the quarter. The Fox Theatre in Atlanta performed best at the box office among U.S. venues, selling more than 313,000 tickets. Tobin Center officials said the San Antonio theater ranked No. 3 overall in the world in third-quarter ticket sales for venues seating less than 2,000 spectators.
