The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo heads in to final preparation for their eighteen day extravaganza having just received the PRCA Large Indoor Rodeo of the Year for an unprecedented 10th consecutive year at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. The top professional cowboys, cowgirls and bucking stock in the world will descend on San Antonio this February to compete for over $1.6 million in prize money. Each rodeo performance will stage world famous entertainment all for a ticket price starting at only $12.

The history, tradition and family-friendly fun on the grounds is a whole other reason The San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is a must see in February. They host one of the world’s largest Junior Livestock shows. So, between that show and the various competitions, over 60,000 animals will pass through the grounds. You can take in everything from the NCHA World Series of Cutting to a Youth Rodeo to sheep herding competitions. Buyers and exhibitors travel across the U.S., Mexico and Canada for the opportunity to show their animal or for a chance to bid on the fine stock at the Ranch Gelding and Select Horse Sale, All Breeds Bull and Heifer Sale and Junior Livestock Auction.

Aside from the main events, there are endless ways to spend days exploring. From over 600 merchandise shops, to a family friendly carnival, iconic fair-food, live music, shows and attractions, agricultural learning centers, petting zoos and a Wildlife Expo.

What you might not know is that behind the action and activities on the grounds, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is a non-profit organization. The event is one of the largest educational assistance providers in the state, with $147.9 million committed since inception. In 2014 alone, $11.8 million was awarded in educational scholarships and opportunities for Texas youth. As reflected by its mission statement "a volunteer organization that emphasizes agriculture and education to develop the youth of Texas," over 6,000 volunteers help make the event happen by working year round on 42 committees.

True to its iconic tagline, the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo is "more than an 8 second ride,"—it is a Texas tradition in the consummate Texas town.
