Any Baby Can’s Fiesta is just weeks away and the Official Fiesta® San Antonio Event will feature the 11th Annual Walk for Autism, live music, food, activities for all, and new this year, the Superhero 5K Run. Taking place at the AT&T Center on Saturday, April 18, the day will offer something for the entire family. Plus, joining the event this year is Senator Carlos Uresti who will serve as Rey Familia of Any Baby Can’s Fiesta.

Any Baby Can’s annual Fiesta event is created around one goal—to provide an opportunity for the community to come together to raise awareness and provide greater support for families raising individuals with autism and other special health care needs as well as families who have lost a child. As a result, Any Baby Can is proud to bring the community an expanded event that will not only provide greater awareness and help support programs available at Any Baby Can, but will give back to other organizations and individuals throughout the community.

“For more than 30 years, Any Baby Can has served families who have children with various disabilities or who have lost a child, and the expansion of our Fiesta event will now better reflect the true range of the families we serve,” said Hugo Hernandez, COO of Any Baby Can. “Any Baby Can believes in inclusion and our updated Fiesta event speaks to that wholeheartedly.”

“The 11th Annual Walk for Autism is the largest component of our Fiesta event and the new format will provide more opportunities for autism awareness. Any Baby Can’s Fiesta will be a family-friendly event, allowing all families and children to feel included and supported.”

Resources
Any Baby Can’s Fiesta will continue to be an avenue for families to gain resources that provide support and education. And on April 18, 2015, the Resource Fair at Any Baby Can’s Fiesta will once again provide a one-stop shop for families to access over 100 providers and community organizations with information regarding education, therapy, financial planning and products for children and adults with special health care needs. While parents visit the resource fair, children can take part in many activities provided by The DoSeum, Children’s Hospital of San Antonio Caravan, the San Antonio Library Literacy Caravan and the Alamo Colleges Mobile GO Center.

Family Activities
Other fun activities and interactives families can partake in are inflatable bouncers, puppies from the Animal Defense League, tricycles from Monarch Academy and a special area called Rudy’s Playground—a space where organizations provide adaptive activities for individuals of all ages and abilities. On top of the Fiesta® décor, attendees will enjoy the sights and sounds of a Folklorico group, Mariachi Bands and live music from bands Elora & Gasoline Alley and Electric Circus. But not before the morning kicks off with the national anthem sung by a courageous boy with autism.

A returning favorite that will be highlighted at Any Baby Can’s Fiesta is Fiesta de Los Jefes. Fiesta de Los Jefes will feature interactive displays from the San Antonio Fire Department and San Antonio Police Department. It will be a great opportunity for families to learn about items such as Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT), see propelling firefighters and more.

Families can enjoy breakfast tacos and other traditional Fiesta food while testing their luck at one of the many game booths. There will even be an area of adult lawn games, including corn hole and Frisbee golf—prizes included. And to cool off, attendees can head over to the splash of the dunking booth sponsored by CHRISTUS HomeCare, where they will have the chance to dunk a member of the University of the Incarnate Word Football Team and the SAFD cadets.

Bid on colorful works of art created on puzzle pieces during the silent art auction sponsored by Nicky’s Promise Pieces. All proceeds will be donated to Any Baby Can. Looking for structured teaching activities or materials for the unique learner? Blue Cat PIES activity books, a product of Any Baby Can, will also be available for purchase. Any Baby Can will also be selling Any Baby Can’s Fiesta and autism awareness, t-shirts, cups, koozies and more.

The sights and sounds of a large event can easily become overwhelming for anyone, especially individuals with special needs. The Sombrilla area at the AT&T Center will be a designated quiet zone, offering a place for families to take their children before and during the event.

“I’ve been involved in Any Baby Can’s Fiesta for one year by participating in the Annual Walk for Autism. Our first year was a very moving experience,” said Katrina Garza, whose son Marcellus, was diagnosed with autism at the age of 4. “To me, the autism walk means unity. This event is wonderful! There are multiple activities and resources available to all families. I can’t wait to patriciate for many years to come.”
