H-E-B Brings Chef-Inspired Dining to Schertz

This month, H-E-B will be opening its newest restaurant, 3009 Restaurant & Bar (pronounced 3 Double-0 Nine), on Friday, April 17th. The excitement will begin at approximately 9:30 a.m., half an hour before the restaurant’s standard opening time Monday through Saturday. 3009, which follows the trend of its predecessors named in homage to the surrounding area, earned its namesake from the adjacent FM road 3009. However, this unique nomenclature that instantly creates a connection between H-E-B’s restaurants and its nearby communities isn’t the only thing that makes 3009 a welcoming and family-friendly environment.

The menu at H-E-B’s newest restaurant will feature a variety of Texas favorites, including a wide range of barbecue, Texas Pecan Bread-Pudding and a dozen True Texas Brews on Tap as well as an eight-item kids menu sure to satisfy even the pickiest of little eaters. Yet in addition to Texas delights such as up to 13 hour on-site smoked meat, 3009 offers an array of menu items from burgers and bistro sandwiches to street tacos, Neapolitan-style pizza, and an assortment of innovative entrees inspired by Chef Randy Evans. Houston’s award-winning chef, who made his TV debut on Food Network’s Kitchen Inferno last December, will continue working with H-E-B as its Director of Restaurants, starting later this year. Among the list of his signature items are Creole Shrimp and Grits and Korean Fried Chicken which holds a corresponding place on the brunch menu when served atop a delicious heap of malt waffles.

Designed as a sit-down restaurant with orders taken at the counter to be delivered by wait-staff, 3009 will also feature a full-service bar whose dedicated bartenders have named and concocted many of the 40 craft-made cocktails that 3009 has to offer. Amidst the options of original cocktails sure to soon become popular favorites are the Vacation Martini (Captain Morgan Parrot Bay Coconut Rum, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, pineapple juice, and grenadine) the Laverne & Shirley (Hendrick’s Gin, Stolichnaya Ginger Beer, and POM Juice) and the Texas Creamsicle which contains fresh orange juice, Captain Morgan Private Stock Rum, simple syrup and heavy whipping cream. For those seeking the classic drinks they know and love, the bar will also carry 70 varieties of spirits and over 20 different wines by the glass or bottle.

3009 will be open for business starting with the grand-opening to be held on April 17th, the first Friday of Fiesta in San Antonio for those interested in a new experience this Fiesta season. With Torrance Jones as Executive Chef and Josh Stager as General Manager, 3009 will be ready to delight customers seven days a week. Regular hours of operation will be from Monday through Thursday: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; Sundays will open at 10 a.m., serving a special brunch menu until 2 p.m. and closing at 10 p.m. With the completion of H-E-B’s fourth restaurant, 3009 will finalize the Schertz location’s conversion into an H-E-B plus! store.

In addition to the new restaurant and bar, the new renovations will expand the Schertz H-E-B plus! location by nearly 60,000 square feet. Both of the Market and Seafood service cases have now been doubled in size! Nearly all former departments have been expanded such as the produce section, the pharmacy, the grocery section with an added Healthy Living area, and many more worth exploring. The store will now also include enticing new offerings such as an apparel department, a Cooking Connection station, and a Mia’s Mirror.
