Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Marks the Completion of Skilled Nursing Unit Renovations at Morningside Ministries at The Manor

On July 14, a special ribbon cutting ceremony took place at Morningside Ministries at The Manor to celebrate the completion of renovations throughout the skilled nursing facility’s Unit 5.

The Unit 5 renovations were entirely funded by gifts from local foundations, businesses, churches, individuals, and even Morningside Ministries residents. It is thanks to their generous gifts – which amounted to a total of $1.3 million – that residents in Unit 5 are now able to enjoy a brand new resident bathing spa and spend their days comfortably in their bedrooms with new mattresses, overbed tables, drawers and television sets.

Renovating the skilled nursing unit has been the most extensive project at the 55-year-old senior living community of The Manor, which provides around-the-clock skilled nursing care and rehabilitation to senior adults and houses 169 residents to date. The renovations at Unit 5 directly benefit a wing of the Manor that is home to 82% low-income residents, further underscoring Morningside’s commitment to serve those in need.

“At a time when we are preparing and enhancing our non-profit senior living communities for the growing number of seniors in need of skilled nursing or long term care, the kindness of our generous donors enabled us to make a difference in the lives of those who need great nursing care in a quality environment,” said Alvin Loewenberg, President and CEO of Morningside Ministries.

The renovation of Unit 5 is the first phase of a larger renovation at The Manor planned to enhance the quality of life for hundreds of residents.
