The world’s first and largest theme park designed with special-needs individuals in mind and built for everyone’s enjoyment – Morgan’s Wonderland – will launch its seventh season at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 26.

“Morgan’s Wonderland held its grand opening April 10, 2010, with NBA legend David Robinson and actress Eva Longoria as special guests,” said Ron Morander, general manager.  “Since then, we’ve welcomed more than a million guests from all 50 states and 65 other countries.”

Morgan’s Wonderland offers more than 25 attractions including wheelchair-accessible rides, playgrounds and gardens for the enjoyment of guests young and older.  The theme park is currently putting the finishing touches on its newest attraction, Whirling Wonder, a five-and-a-half-story Ferris wheel that will make its official debut in March.

Situated in the former Longhorn Quarry, Morgan’s Wonderland is the center of a family fun destination now known as Wonderland, Texas that includes The Academy at Morgan’s Wonderland, a school for students with special needs next door to theme park, and the Children’s Rehabilitation Institute of Teleton USA (CRIT USA).  Coming to Wonderland, Texas in spring 2017 will be Morgan’s Inspiration Island, the world’s first ultra-accessible splash park.

The inspiration for Morgan’s Wonderland came from philanthropists Gordon and Maggie Hartman’s 22-year-old daughter Morgan.  Her soaring spirit despite personal challenges sparked within them a deep desire to create a haven not only for those with special needs but also for their families, caregivers, invited friends and the general public.

“Inclusion is the overarching objective for Morgan’s Wonderland,” Gordon Hartman explained.  “Our vision is to play an instrumental role in helping establish more ultra-accessible family fun parks throughout the nation and the world.”

Morgan’s Wonderland is located in Northeast San Antonio a half-mile west of IH 35 at the intersection of Wurzbach Parkway and Thousand Oaks Drive.  In addition to visiting the park’s website, interested individuals can call (210) 495-5888 for more information.
