Women's Comprehensive Health Conference set for Nov. 5

UT Medicine San Antonio is holding its second annual Women’s Comprehensive Health Conference. The free event, open to women of all ages, will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, at the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute, 8403 Floyd Curl Drive.
 
In addition to free breakfast and health screenings, women will learn about the latest advancements in women’s health and have their questions answered by UT Medicine physicians, who are faculty members at the UT Health Science Center San Antonio. The event is sponsored by UT Medicine’s Women’s Comprehensive Health Institute.
 
With their online registration, participants will have the opportunity to schedule a mammogram for the day of the event.
 
Keynote speaker is Bonnie Prosser Elder, senior vice president of VIA, who will discuss how she commits to making the time and taking the steps to stay driven, happy and healthy.
 
UT Medicine speakers and their topics include:

• Pamela Otto, M.D., radiologist, “To Screen or Not to Screen: That is the Question”;
• Ildiko Agoston, M.D., cardiologist, “Cardiovascular Risks in Women”;
• Alexander Shepherd, M.D., internal medicine specialist, “Preventing Illness is Better Than Treating It”;
• Rochelle David, M.D., obstetrician/gynecologist, “Women’s Health Needs at Every Age”; and
• Sandra Osswald, M.D., dermatologist, “What to Look for Regarding Skin Screenings.” 

Speaker presentations begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by pre-scheduled mammograms and the chance to browse through a variety of health-related booths provided by community partners including the Alamo Breast Cancer Foundation, American Heart Association, financial planning partners and information about the specialties offered by UT Medicine.
